Comment
The titulature recalls the victory of the king during his expedition to Italy; it is later than 540. Theudebert would have struck in the name of the emperor before the Italian campaign in 540, and in his name after the campaign. This expedition undeniably marks a monetary change and the already growing importance of the workshops of the South. See Prou, p. XXXII. The attribution to Bonn proposed from Belfort is confirmed by Lafaurie, RN, 1983, p. 120.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Solidus - Theudebert I (Bonn) coin is that it features a unique blend of Christian and pagan imagery. On one side, the coin bears the image of a cross, symbolizing the Christian faith of the Frankish Kingdoms. On the other side, it features a depiction of a pagan deity, possibly Wotan or Thor, highlighting the cultural influences of the pre-Christian Germanic peoples. This blending of religious symbols reflects the complex religious landscape of the Frankish Kingdoms during the 6th century and adds to the historical significance of the coin.
