Comment
Van der Chijs places this coin in the reign of Joan of Wesemael, and proposes that the lettering in the exergue is for Hendrik van Diest, her husband.
Delmonte cites Van der Chijs in his listing of the coin, but places it in the reign of John of Wesemael (1415-1464), perhaps by mistake?
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Small Agnel coin is that it was minted during a time of great turmoil in the Lordship of Rummen, which was a small territory in what is now Belgium. The coin was issued by Joan of Wesemael and Hendrik van Diest, who were the co-rulers of the Lordship at the time. Despite the political instability, the coin was made of gold, indicating the wealth and prosperity of the region.
