Interesting fact
The Silver Krugerrand coin was first introduced in 2018 as a non-circulating coin, meaning it was not meant to be used as legal tender or circulated in the economy. Instead, it was produced as a collector's item and was only available for purchase directly from the South African Mint or authorized dealers. Despite being made of silver, the coin still bears the same design as the gold Krugerrand, which features a portrait of Paul Kruger, the former president of the South African Republic, on one side and a springbok antelope on the other.
