Comment
Only three examples are known. There has been much controversy on dating Populonian coins, and as such, the date ranges my vary per source.
The first Male head series was struck using Populonia's third silver standard, with all being set at unrelated weights to the proceeding two standard.
Interesting fact
The Silver 1 As coin from Populonia (Etruria) features a unique design element - a facing left male head, which was a departure from the more common right-facing depiction of male figures on ancient coins. This design choice may have been intended to symbolize the importance of looking back to the past or to convey a sense of introspection and self-reflection.
