Comment

Brit Mus Plate I 25
Type IIIb
Kneeling-running figure of the Great King right, transverse spear with point downward in right, bow in left, bearded, crowned. Sardis mint. Possibly introduced in connection with the accession of Xerxes.
Drapery with naturalistic fold over the advanced left knee, no pellets, sometimes appears beardless, often cartoon-like or crude, sometimes an elongated face, sometimes quiver not visible, significant variation in style.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features the image of two Persian kings, Xerxes I and Artaxerxes II, on opposite sides. This unique design was a result of a minting error and was only produced for a short period of time, making it a rare and valuable collector's item.
