Interesting fact
The Semis coin was used during the Roman Republic and features the image of a bust of a young woman, likely a representation of the Roman goddess Libertas, on one side, and the image of a horse on the other. The coin was minted in Carthago Nova, which is now known as Cartagena, Spain, and was an important city in the Roman province of Tarraconensis. The use of bronze in the coin's construction was a common practice during this time period, as it was a readily available and durable material.
