The Semis coin from Irippo (Baetica) was used as a form of currency during the Roman Republic and Empire, and its design changed over time. The coin , made of bronze and weighing 5.1g, features the goddess Ceres on the obverse (front) side, and a grain ear on the reverse (back) side. This design was used during the reign of Emperor Augustus (27 BC - 14 AD), and it symbolized the fertility and prosperity of the Roman Empire.
