Interesting fact

The Rouble coin , which was issued during the reign of Peter I of Russia in 1720-1721, was the first coin to feature the image of a Russian monarch. Prior to this, Russian coins had featured the image of the Russian eagle or other symbols, but not a portrait of the ruling monarch. This coin was a significant departure from that tradition and marked a new era in Russian coinage.
