Comment
1.Giorgi IV Lasha, the son of Queen Regnant Tamar and her consort David Soslan, was declared as a coregent by his mother in 1207. He had princely domain in Javakheti (Southern region of Georgia) for which he was known by the title of "Javakhtupali", i.e., "the Lord of the Javakhians"2.This regular copper probably circulated together with irregular ones, because halved pieces also exist:
3. The only countermark reported on this type of coin is Rusudan`s small countermark, number #2 in our listing of countermarks on Tamar and Giorgi IV Lasha ` s coins.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of King George IV, also known as "Javakhtupali," which means "the builder of churches" in Georgian. This nickname was given to him because of his efforts to promote Christianity and build churches throughout the kingdom during his reign.
