Comment
The coin illustrated is from Plate XXII of the Jacob Hirsch (Munich) auctions catalogue 18 of “The important collection of Roman and Byzantine coins of Friedrich Imhoof-Blumer in Winterthur; as well as a selected collection of Greek coins from the possession of a foreign diplomat; public auction Monday 27 May 27 1907 and following days.”
Interesting fact
The Quadrans (S C; Ceres) (85) coin features the goddess Ceres on the obverse (front side), who was the Roman goddess of agriculture, fertility, and grain crops. The reverse (back side) of the coin depicts a stalk of grain, which symbolizes Ceres' association with agriculture and fertility. This coin was minted during the reign of Emperor Nero (54-68 AD), who was known for his extravagance and tyranny, but also for his efforts to improve agriculture and trade in the Roman Empire.
