Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of Augustus, the first Roman Emperor, on one side, and a depiction of a hippopotamus on the other. The hippopotamus was a symbol of the Roman province of Africa, where the coin was minted. This coin is a rare example of a Roman coin that features a representation of an animal that was not commonly found in the Roman Empire.
