Sunni kalima in central square

Comment

Inscribed beh bud tanka in central lozenge, thus to be regarded as a tanka. This type never bears the mint, but was likely struck at
Herat at the same time as the 2-miri of Astarabad (#A2437). Known dated 910

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of Sultan Husayn Abu'l-Ghazi, who was the ruler of the Timurid Empire, a Mongol khanate that emerged after the death of Genghis Khan. The coin features an inscription in Persian that reads "Sultan Husayn Abu'l-Ghazi, the just king, the son of the great Amir Timur Gurkani, may God perpetuate his reign" (Source: "The Coins of the Timurid Dynasty" by A. H. Morton).
