This potin is one of the two types to have been traditionally attributed also to the Helvetians. The authors of the New Atlas specify that “the origins of this type are mainly located in Western and North-Western Switzerland”.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that the filiform horse design on the Potin coin was a symbol of the horse's strength and endurance, which was highly valued by the Sequani people, a Celtic tribe that inhabited the region of Gallia Celtica (modern-day France) during the 1st century BC.
