Comment
Yolanda of Flanders (of the house of Dampierre) married Henry IV, Count of Bar in 1338, and bore him two sons, Edward and Robert. When Henry died in 1344, his elder son Edward was only 4 years old, so Yolanda served as regent until his minority ended in 1349.
Unfortunately Edward would also die prematurely in 1352, and Yolanda would go on to serve again as regent for her younger son, Robert.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the regency of Yolanda of Flanders, who was the daughter of King Philip VI of France and the wife of King Edward III of England. This coin was minted in the County of Bar, which was a region in the French States, and it was made of silver, which was a valuable and sought-after metal at the time. The fact that it weighs 3.03 grams suggests that it was a significant coin with a high monetary value.
