Comment

In 1688 the price of the gold ant the silver rise 20%. There was no time to collect and cast the circulating coin. Therefore, by the Law 04AUG1688, the value of the silver and gold coins was also increased 20%. However, during ~150 years the coinage remains unchanged with the circulating coins having a value ~20% above the face value

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Standard circulation coin Pinto - João VI (Lisboa) 1818-1821 from Portugal made of Gold (.917) weighing 1.07 g is that it was minted during a time of economic and political turmoil in Portugal. The coin was issued during the reign of King João VI, who ruled Portugal from 1816 to 1826. During this time, Portugal was facing economic difficulties and political instability, which led to the introduction of a new currency, the "Pinto," which was named after the king's nickname. The coin was made of gold and had a value of 100 réis, which was a significant amount at the time. Despite the challenges faced by the country, the coin remains a valuable collector's item today, with some mint conditions selling for thousands of dollars.
