Comment
Coat of arms of Duchy of Gelre (Source: Wikipedia)
The single-headed eagle is not the same as the double-headed eagle of the Roman Holy Empire. Van der Chijs suggests that it is (part of) the coat of arms of Nijmegen back then.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique blend of Christian and pagan elements in its design. The obverse side of the coin depicts Otto II, the Count of Nijmegen, with a crown and a scepter, while the reverse side features a stylized image of a tree, which was a common symbol in pre-Christian European cultures. This blending of religious symbols reflects the cultural and religious diversity of the Duchy of Guelders during this time period.
