CROWN counter-stamp to avoid damage the Royal Crown

Script: Latin

Comment

Stamp applied to Patacos by the “Governo Civil do Porto”(G.C.P) during a revolution in 1847.
It should be noted that there is a CROWN counter-stamp on the opposite side, which was intended not to damage the royal crown. Its absence (or traces) means that it is a fraudulent stamp.

Interesting fact

The Pataco - Maria II (Countermark "GCP") ND (1847) coin from Portugal was minted during the reign of Queen Maria II, who was the first queen to rule Portugal in her own right. She was only 17 years old when she ascended to the throne in 1837, and her reign lasted until her death in 1853. The countermark "GCP" on the coin stands for "Governador Civil de Porto," which translates to "Civil Governor of Porto," indicating that the coin was issued by the Porto branch of the Royal Mint.
