Ruler: Daulat Rao AH 1209-1243 / 1794-1827 AD

Shrimant Daulat Rao Sindhia (1779 – 21 March 1827) was the king (Maharaja) of Gwalior state in central India from 1794 until his death in 1827. His reign coincided with struggles for supremacy within the Maratha Confederacy, and with Maratha resistance to the consolidation of British hegemony over northern and central India in the early 19th century. Daulatrao played a significant role in the Second and Third Anglo-Maratha wars.

Interesting fact

The Paisa - Daulat Rao (Gwalior Fort) 1215 (1801) coin from the Princely state of Gwalior (Indian princely states) is interesting because it was made of copper, which was a common material used for coinage in India during that time period, but it weighed 9.5g, which is slightly heavier than the standard weight for a coin of its size. This could indicate that it was intended for use as a token or for some other specific purpose, rather than as a standard circulating coin.
