Interesting fact
The Obol (Kugelreiter Type) coin from the Kingdom of Noricum, which was minted between 100 BC and 1 BC, features a unique design on its obverse side. Instead of depicting a monarch or a deity, as was common in ancient coinage, this coin bears an image of a stylized tree, with branches that curve upwards and outwards from the center. This design element is known as a "kugelreiter," which translates to "sphere-rider" in German, and is a distinctive feature of Norican coins from this period. The use of this design may have been intended to symbolize the connection between the kingdom and the natural world, or to convey a sense of stability and growth.
