Interesting fact
The Obol coin from Rhodes, which was in circulation from 408 BC to 390 BC, is interesting because it features a unique design on its obverse side. Instead of depicting a deity or a monarch, as was common on ancient Greek coins, the Obol coin bears the image of a rose. This is believed to be the first time a flower was used as a central motif on a coin, making it a pioneering example of botanical iconography in numismatics.
