Comment
This coin was struck during the Fifth Syrian War (202-195 BC). This example (one of two known) has the same obverse die as Svoronos 1269, but does not have the ΝΙ control mark on the reverse; this mark is seen on several silver tetradrachm pieces of the time from an uncertain Ptolemaic military mint in Phoenicia. As such, this coin is believed to be from this mint.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features the image of Arsinoe III, who was a powerful queen and co-regent of the Ptolemaic Kingdom during her reign. She was known for her political and military prowess, and her coinage was an important symbol of her authority and influence. The coin's gold content and intricate design also reflect the wealth and opulence of the Ptolemaic Kingdom during this time period.
