It is known that the Pskov mint did not have its own carver of coin matrix. The new reverse matrix with the name of Dmitry Ivanovich which was made in this yard differs in style from all the known Pskov matrixes that preceded the time of Dmitry. Style of writing of some of the letters suggests that the obverse matrix was prepared by a master who was accustomed to the Latin script rather than to Cyrillic.
For the obverse sides of the Pskov coins, two old matrixes were used. This type was minted with an "archaic style" of Pskov kopeks, while the was minted by the matrix of "Moscow style". (source)
