Interesting fact
The Boris Godunov Kopeck coin was minted during a time of great change and upheaval in Russia. Boris Godunov was a powerful advisor to Tsar Fedor I, and he eventually seized the throne for himself in 1598, becoming the first non-Rurik dynasty Tsar of Russia. His reign was marked by political and economic reforms, including the introduction of a new currency system that replaced the old Mongol-style coins with more modern, Western-style coins like the Kopeck. Despite his efforts to modernize Russia, Godunov's reign was cut short by his untimely death in 1605, and the coin bearing his name remains a rare and valuable collector's item.
