Interesting fact
The Hemistater coin from Gortyna (Crete) is interesting because it features a unique blend of ancient Greek and Minoan influences in its design. The obverse side of the coin depicts the helmeted head of the Greek goddess Athena, while the reverse side features a Minoan-style dolphin, which was a symbol of the Minoan civilization that once flourished on the island of Crete. This blending of cultural influences reflects the rich history and cultural exchange that took place in the ancient Mediterranean world.
