Interesting fact
The Hemilitra coin features a unique design on its obverse side, depicting a horseman riding a horse in a galloping pose. This design is believed to represent the mythical creature known as the "Himera", which was a horse-like creature with the body of a horse and the head of a man. This mythical creature was said to be the symbol of the city of Himera, where the coin was minted. The coin's design is considered to be one of the earliest examples of the use of mythological themes in ancient Greek coinage.
