Interesting fact
The Hemidrachm coin was used as a form of currency in the Lycian League, a confederation of cities in ancient Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) during the 6th century BC. The coin's design featured the head of a lion on one side and the Lycian legend "ΛYKIΩN" (Lykios) on the other. The coin was made of silver and weighed approximately 1.35 grams. Despite its small size, the Hemidrachm was an important currency in the region and played a significant role in the economy of the Lycian League.
