Interesting fact
The Hemidrachm coin from Halikarnassos (Caria) features a unique blend of Greek and Persian influences in its design. The obverse side of the coin depicts a bearded male head wearing a diadem, which is a distinctly Greek feature. However, the reverse side of the coin shows a seated female figure, which is a common motif in Persian art. This blending of styles reflects the cultural exchange and fusion that occurred during the Hellenistic period, when Greek cities like Halikarnassos were under Persian rule.
