Interesting fact
The Hekte coin was used as a form of currency in the ancient city of Kyzikos (now known as Mysia) in modern-day Turkey, and it's one of the earliest known coins to feature an image of a mythical creature - in this case, a griffin. The griffin was a symbol of protection and strength in ancient Greek mythology, and its presence on the coin may have been intended to convey the power and authority of the city or its rulers.
