Interesting fact
The Half-denga coin was used during the reign of Grand Prince Vasily II of Moscow, who ruled from 1425 to 1433. During his reign, the coinage system was reformed, and the Half-denga was introduced as a new denomination. It was equal in value to half of a Denga, which was the standard unit of currency at the time. The coin was made of silver and featured an image of the Grand Prince on one side and a Cyrillic legend on the other. The use of the Cyrillic alphabet on the coin was a significant departure from previous coinage, which had used the Old Church Slavonic language. This change reflected the growing influence of the Russian Orthodox Church and the increasing use of the Russian language in official documents and coinage.
