Comment

CNI assigns a date range of 1250 - 1280 for coins struck in the name of Frederick II, but the grosso of 4 denari has recently been assigned a narrower range.

Many variants of the main type exist:

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of Frederick II, who was the Holy Roman Emperor and King of Sicily, and was known for his military conquests and cultural achievements. The coin features an image of Frederick II on one side and the coat of arms of the Commune of Como on the other. This coin is a rare and valuable example of medieval numismatics and is highly sought after by collectors.
