Comment
The CNI erroneously classifies it as a "quattrino" but a recent study has actually brought to light that it is a 6 denari grosso, called "Grossetto". Minted in Cortona under bishop Guido Tarlati di Pietramala for a very short period between September 1316 and June 1317 (Betti R. et ALII, Grossi da sei e da venti denari di Arezzo, Firenze, Massa Marittima, Siena e Volterra. «Rivista Italiana di Numismatica e scienze affini», CV, pp. 367-391, Società Numismatica Italiana, 2004). Nassar 2017, grossetto, p.37 - Vanni 1997, 116-121.Extremely rare coin.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Grossetto da sei denari 1316 from Arezzo (Italian States) is that it was minted during the reign of Pope John XXII, who was known for his extensive reforms within the Catholic Church and his efforts to strengthen the papacy.
