Rare piece, struck between 1300 and 1309 in the mint of Méraude (Poilvache). It was during the reign of Henry VII that the Esterlin and the present Gros Tournois for the County of Luxembourg were struck for the first time.

This type has many variants of legend and punctuation. A total of 10 for the obverse and 8 for the reverse (Weiller, p. 18-19)

The monetary system of Henry VII was adapted to the tournois system. This gros had at the time the following theoretical relationship:
1 gros = 3 esterlins = 4 quart de gros = 12 deniers = 24 obols
