Comment

Grolle 20C.1.5

Jacqueline of Bavaria ascended the throne of Holland amidst a succession conflict which was ultimately won by Philip of Burgundy. According to the 1428 Reconciliation of Delft, Jacqueline retained her title, but Holland and Zeeland were put under the administration of Philip, until 1433 when he gained full control.

Interesting fact

The "Kromstaart" Groat coin from the County of Holland (Dutch States) features a unique design element - a curved tail on the horse depicted on the reverse side of the coin. This distinctive feature is where the coin gets its name "Kromstaart," which means "curved tail" in Dutch.
