Comment
Day et al. (MEC 12, p.276-277) describe this type as pertaining to the early 14th century during a period characterized by Guelf-Ghibbeline friction in Genoa. The sequence of the mint master's marks is unclear, though they tentatively attribute the genovino ghibellino with an eagle mark to 1311-1313 (despitre later attribution of 1334-1336 in other catalogs), and the genovino guelfo with a lion to sometime during the period of Guelf rule (1318-1335).
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Genovino (Type 3) ND (1305-1339) coin from Genoa is that it features the image of Saint George, the patron saint of Genoa, on its obverse side.
