Comment

It is an imitation of the Franc à pied of Charles V. Guy of Luxembourg became count of Saint-Pol in 1360 by his marriage to Mahaut de Châtillon. In 1366, he inherited the lordship of Ligny, which was raised to the rank of county by Charles V in 1367.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Franc à pied coin is that it was issued during a time of great turmoil in Europe, particularly in the Holy Roman Empire. The coin was minted during the reign of Guy of Luxembourg, who was the Count of Ligny and Saint-Pol, and it was used as a means of payment and exchange during a period of economic and political upheaval. Despite the challenges of the time, the coin remained a stable and reliable form of currency, and it is still highly sought after by collectors today.
