One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Al-Ashraf Sha'ban II, who was the last Sultan of the Mamluk Sultanate, which was a powerful state that ruled over much of the Middle East and North Africa during the 13th to 16th centuries. Despite being made of copper, this coin was still considered a standard circulation coin and was widely used in trade and commerce during its time.
