Interesting fact
The Dwugrosz coin featuring Jan II Kazimierz Waza (Wschowa) 1650-1654 from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was made of silver, but it was also one of the first coins in Europe to feature a portrait of a king on one side and an image of a saint on the other. This unique design was a departure from the traditional coin designs of the time, which typically featured an image of the ruling monarch on both sides. This coin's design was a nod to the religious influence of the time and the importance of the Catholic Church in Polish society.
