Interesting fact
The Dwugrosz coin featuring Jan II Kazimierz Waza (Bydgoszcz) 1650 from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was made of silver, but it was also one of the first coins in Europe to feature a portrait of a king on one side and an image of a patron saint on the other. This unique design was a departure from the traditional coin designs of the time, which usually featured an image of the ruling monarch on both sides. This coin's design was a nod to the importance of religion and the role of the king as a protector of the faith.
