Metcalf 58.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Ducat - Fabrizio of Carretto ND (1513-1521) coin is that it was minted during a time of great historical significance. The Order of the Knights of Rhodes, also known as the Knights Hospitaller, was a military order that had been based in Rhodes since 1310. In 1522, just a year after the coin was minted, the Knights were forced to leave Rhodes after the island was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. This coin, therefore, represents a unique moment in history, as it was minted during the final years of the Knights' presence in Rhodes.
