Comment

The first Venetian type ducat struck by the Hospitaller Order on Rhodes.  It still uses the name and image of St. Mark, rather than St. John, the patron of the Order.

Varieties exist, including:

Obv legend with F ANTONIS and S M VENTI

Obv legend with F ANTO' FLVI and S M VENETI

Obverse with gothic M in field behind the Master

Minor differences in spelling of reverse legend also exist.
