Comment

Sambon, following Garrucci, believed the piece to be struck by un unknown tribe in the Cisalpine Gaul region. Grose, though, thought the style and full legend of the McClean specimen suggested an attribution to Cales in Campania. While the reverse type is similar to that appearing on Cales bronze of the 3rd century, the obverse and the unusual characteristics of the ethnic clearly suggest this is an imitative issue.

Interesting fact

The Drachm with Apollo head from Uncertain Cisalpine Gallic tribes (Cisalpine Gaul) is interesting because it features a unique blend of Greek and Celtic influences. The coin's design, which includes the head of Apollo, a Greek deity, and the Celtic torc, a symbol of Celtic culture, highlights the cultural exchange and fusion that occurred between the two civilizations during this time period. This coin serves as a tangible representation of the rich cultural heritage of the region and provides valuable insight into the history of coinage and trade in the ancient world.
