Extremely rare and possibly unpublished. The ‘eagle’ coinage of Alexander was the Macedonian king’s first coinage and was apparently produced only in Macedonia; it seems to have been issued primarily for local use.
Interesting fact
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Alexander the Great, while the reverse depicts a seated Zeus holding a scepter and an eagle. This design was chosen to symbolize Alexander's divine lineage and his role as the king of Macedonia and conqueror of a vast portion of the known world.
