Interesting fact
The Drachm coin from Thasos (Thracian Islands) was used as a form of currency in ancient Greece and its design was inspired by the mythical creature, the Griffin. The obverse side of the coin features the head of a griffin, while the reverse side features a quadripartite incuse square with a small crescent moon in the center. This design was a symbol of the city's wealth and power, as well as its connection to the mythical creature that was believed to possess great strength and protection.
