Interesting fact
The Double Tournois coin was minted during the reign of King Louis XIII, who was only 12 years old when he ascended to the throne. Despite his young age, Louis XIII was instrumental in reforming the French monetary system, which had been in disarray due to the Wars of Religion. The Double Tournois coin was one of the new coinages introduced during his reign, and it was designed to replace the older Teston coin. The coin's design featured the king's effigy on one side and the coat of arms of France on the other.
