Comment
According to De Mey this coin is copied from the gros de Nesle of Henri II. It seems rather that it was produced after the double sol parisis of Henri III, in particular because of the resemblance of the cross of the reverse.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during a time of great religious and political upheaval in Europe. The coin was minted during the reign of Pope Gregory XIII, who was instrumental in implementing the Gregorian calendar, which is still in use today. Additionally, the coin was minted in the Comtat Venaissin, a region in southern France that was under the control of the Papal States, adding to its historical and cultural significance.
