Interesting fact
The Pattern Dirham was a trial coinage issued by the Moroccan government in 1881, during the reign of Moulay al-Hasan I. It was minted in bronze and features a unique pattern, with the obverse bearing the inscription "al-Hasan" in Arabic script, and the reverse featuring a stylized floral design. The coin was never officially circulated and was instead used as a sample for the eventual introduction of a new currency. As a result, the Pattern Dirham is now a highly sought-after collector's item, with only a limited number of coins known to exist.
