Comment
This type is the most widespread in the Juchid coinage minted in Crimea. Dirhams 720 with frozen date believed to have been struck for as long as 30-40 years without change of date, design, or ruler’s name, and were in circulation for more than 100 years.
The weight standard seems to be more like 1.20-1.23g
Countermark Khan is quite often on these coins. According to Stephen Album's Checklist of Islamic Coins, this countermark has tentatively been assigned to ‘Abd Allah Khan, who ruled 762-771, but this remains theoretical and unproven.
Interesting fact
The Dirham "Dang" coin from the Golden Horde, minted during the reign of Muhammad Uzbeg (Qrim al-Maqrus) between 1313-1341, features a unique blend of Islamic and Mongolian influences in its design. The coin's Silver content and 1.05g weight were carefully regulated to ensure consistency in trade and commerce across the vast Golden Horde territory.
