Interesting fact
The Didrachm from Maroneia (Thrace) was used as a form of currency in ancient Greece and its design was inspired by the goddess Demeter. The obverse side of the coin features a depiction of Demeter, while the reverse side features a grain ear, which was a symbol of fertility and prosperity. This coin was used for everyday transactions and was also used as a means of payment for merchants and traders.
