Ashton connects this issue showing a female bust on the obverse with the disaster relief sent by Ptolemy III to Rhodes after the devastating earthquake of circa 226 BC.
Interesting fact
The Dichalkon coin from Rhodes features a unique design, with the head of the Greek goddess Athena on one side and a dolphin on the other. This coin was used as a means of payment for everyday transactions and was also a symbol of the island's wealth and power.
