Sobeslaus was a duke of Bohemia during 1125 - 1140. He is known for fortification of Prague castle and also for famous battle of Chlumec, where he defeated and captured king Lothair III of Germany. After his death, duchy of Bohemia passed on his nephew Vladislaus.

Interesting fact

The Denier - Sobeslaus I ND (1125) coin from the Kingdom of Bohemia is interesting because it was issued during the reign of King Sobeslaus I, who was known for his military campaigns and his efforts to strengthen the Bohemian economy. Despite being made of silver, the coin weighs only 0.8 grams, making it a relatively lightweight coin compared to other coins of its time. This may have been a deliberate design choice to make the coin more accessible to a wider range of people, or it may have been a result of the limited resources available to the kingdom at the time. Regardless of the reason, the coin remains a fascinating piece of history and a testament to the economic and political developments of the Kingdom of Bohemia during the 12th century.
